FDOT District Six Presents in Statewide Conference
District Six Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) staff was selected to present at the Transpo2022 event in Bonita Springs this summer. This conference is sponsored by the Intelligent Transportation Society of Florida and the Florida/Puerto Rico District of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
The annual event brings industry leaders from around the state to showcase the latest transportation projects and initiatives happening in Florida. It provides a platform for TSM&O professionals to meet and share the ideas that provide innovation for the transportation industry and the motoring public.
District Six staff had the opportunity to present on four topics at this important event. They provided an update on the District’s Connected and Automated Vehicle (CAV) initiatives which showcased the latest Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) project for incident management as well as the Keys COAST project along US 1 in Monroe County. The District was also given the opportunity to present about its availability-based intelligent transportation system (ITS) maintenance contract, the lessons it learned about operating the SunGuide Transportation Management Center (TMC) during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the growing role of the Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Teams in southeast Florida.
The presentations were well-received and provided operational insight to event-goers. District Six is committed to supporting industry events that advance transportation safety and mobility.
