FDOT District Six Hosts Statewide Express Lane Software Change Management Meeting
The District Six Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Office recently hosted the Statewide Express Lane Software (SELS) meeting at the SunGuide® Transportation Management Center in Miami-Dade County this January.
The two-day meeting was held for the SELS Change Management Team (CMT) which is comprised of representatives from all Districts including Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) and Central Office. The team meets at least three times per year to review how the software meets the needs of current and future express lanes projects and ensure that any proposed changes meet the criteria established in the CMT’s charter. Proposed software changes are voted on by the CMT and are implemented in a controlled process.
The goal of the January meeting was to give the CMT a historical overview of the software, outline the computer system requirements needed for implementation and provide a live demonstration of the software’s key features such as toll updates and Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) verification. In the meeting, the team also addressed the plan to transition SELS from District Six to FTE while supporting the launch of upcoming express lane projects throughout the state.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 2017 in Tampa, Florida.
