District Six Staff Participates in Statewide Engineering Conference
The District Six Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Office was selected to present at the Florida Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Annual Conference this summer. The two-day event was hosted in July and was the organization’s first in-person meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event was attended by a wide range of industry professionals from across the state. It featured a robust program of presentations, technical sessions and exhibits that showcased the latest in traffic planning and engineering. District Six presented in the event’s Transportation Track which highlighted some of the most important projects in the field. More specifically, the district presented on FDOT’s experience expanding the express lanes network in southeast Florida. It provided the agency’s perspective about creating the groundwork that introduced these projects in the community and the steps taken to build the sound regional network we see today. The presentation detailed individual project timelines and the different needs addressed by each. It also went over the importance of having strong leadership, maintaining multi-agency partnerships and adjusting operations to ensure the network’s long-term success and sustainability. The presentation was well-received by eventgoers and will be available by conference officials for their use and reference.
