District Six Participates in National Congestion Pricing Conference in Washington, D.C.

The District’s Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Office was invited to speak at the National Congestion Pricing Conference in the nation’s capital last month. The conference is sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

 

The event brings together transportation professionals from across the country covering topics in managed lanes, parking pricing, transit and shared mobility connections, and technology advancements. The goal is to promote best practices and empower attendees with the knowledge to help them deliver projects that are working to meet the mobility needs of their home states.

 

District Six was selected to speak for its work in the successful expansion of the southeast Florida express lanes network during the past ten years. Conference officials wanted the District to share its story to help others going through the same process.

 

The District’s presentation guided attendees through the timeline and launch of the network’s individual projects as well as the challenges and benefits of each. District staff emphasized that having a strong multi-agency partnerships and regional-based planning as key factors in developing the framework of the network, and operations for its role in sustaining the projects past launch.

 

The presentation was well received and provided great insight into the District’s experience. The event was a great opportunity for District staff to learn about the state of the industry and the latest innovations.

 

FDOT plans to participate in additional events throughout the year and will be presenting at ITS America this June.
