District Six staff received a Prudential Productivity Award for developing the Automated Vehicle Locate (AVL) System. The system connects every incident management vehicle in the District’s fleet to SunGuide Transportation Management Center (TMC) staff by collecting and reporting vehicle location every 60 seconds. Reliable AVL data is critical for several aspects of traffic incident management, including vehicle tracking and location confirmation. Knowing which resources are in the field is critical to ensuring the correct vehicles are dispatched to handle incidents and expedite clearance efforts. District Six received a commemorative plaque for its efforts in June 2017.
