FDOT District Six TSM&O Office Inspires Future Talent at Local Career Day
The FDOT District Six Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Office participated in a local Career Day event where a representative met with elementary school students to share information about the program. The goal of the event was to expose students to different career paths and highlight the importance of higher education to building a better future.
Ms. Diana Iglesias, Freeway/Arterial Management Specialist IV, spoke to students about the essential role transportation plays in daily life, from ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods to supporting overall quality of life. She explained how various engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, design, and computer engineers, work together to build and maintain Florida’s transportation infrastructure.
Her presentation walked students through FDOT’s roadway development process, from planning and design to construction, maintenance, and operations. She also highlighted how technology drives innovation in transportation and concluded with a video celebrating 20 years of the TSM&O Program. The session received such positive feedback that school administrators invited Ms. Iglesias to present to an additional class that day.
The FDOT District Six TSM&O Office regularly participates in community events to promote public awareness. The Office hosts public tours, press events, and educational sessions throughout the year. To request a tour of the SunGuide Transportation Management Center, please click here.
