TMC Provides Traffic Management Support for Formula 1 Event

The FDOT District Six Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSM&O) Office supported the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens for the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.

SunGuide Transportation Management Center (TMC) staff provided on-site support during the three-day event. They attended various pre-event meetings to coordinate roles and responsibilities to facilitate a smooth process on race weekend. They served as the liaison between the stadium’s transportation and security team and the TMC. District Six staff was responsible for monitoring traffic conditions on the roadways adjacent to the stadium using the closed-circuit television cameras and communicating their findings to stadium support staff. This information helped the stadium steer special event traffic such as large caravans, buses, and ride share activity to avoid potential delays. SunGuide TMC staff also coordinated dynamic message sign plans and provided incident management support throughout the weekend.

This effort is part of the District’s ongoing mission to support local partners during special events that impact our region. The District understands that interagency coordination is essential for the safety and mobility of our roadways and will provide our partners with the resources needed to during high traffic generating events.
