District Six Wins Two Awards at State Conference
The Intelligent Transportation Society of Florida (ITS Florida) recognized the District Six Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Office with two awards at their annual meeting held last December.
The meeting gathers transportation professionals from across the state to discuss the latest news and initiatives happening in the industry. It also recognizes project teams and individuals for outstanding work completed within the year. ITS Florida awarded District Six with a plaque of Outstanding Achievement for assuming the operations and maintenance of the Monroe County Traffic Signal and Devices System on US 1. The award recognized the team for creating the operational continuity plan that ensured a smooth transition from the local municipalities to the District Six TSM&O office. The plan included developing partnerships with local stakeholders, improving existing field infrastructure and adding new software, staff and procedures to manage the new system. The plan also incorporated maintenance and customer service measures to improve signal availability and public communication. The result of the team’s work is a system that is now up to industry standards and ready to meet future demand.
ITS Florida also recognized the District’s TSM&O Program Engineer with the “Professional of the Year Award” for championing the projects and ideas that are moving the industry forward. This award is given to select individuals who have a proven track record of success in the field.
District Six actively participates in transportation conferences to learn about the latest industry trends and best practices.
