SunGuide TMC Participates FDOT’s New Employee Orientation

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six Office recently hosted its ‘New Employee Orientation’ event and for the first time, featured a stop at the SunGuide Transportation Management Center. The event’s goal is to introduce new hires to the various departments within FDOT, broaden their knowledge base and promote cross-training principles from the beginning of their career. About 30 attendees toured the TMC and learned about the resources available to them as both employees and members of the public as well.

A Program representative explained the devices and technologies that make up the Intelligent Transportation Systems. They learned how these resources aide in the agency’s overall mission of advancing the safety and mobility of our transportation system and how they can use these resources in their new posts. The tour also showcased the program’s traffic services and how to use them in their daily travels. Guests learned how to access real-time traffic information via the different channels of the 511 Traveler Information System and how to contact a Road Ranger should they require roadside assistance among other services. Guests were especially interested in learning how 95 Express works and the effort to expand managed lanes projects statewide.

The TMC Tour was noted as a great addition to the new employee orientation agenda and will be part of future events. If you are interested in booking a tour of the SunGuide TMC, please visit our ‘Contact Us’ page.
