FDOT District Six Participates in TPO’s First Annual Ride SMART Transportation Fair
The FDOT District Six Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) TSM&O Office participated in the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization’s (TPO) first annual Ride Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Transportation Fair which took place at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Downtown Miami.
The event took place this August and was attended by members of the TPO’s Public Involvement Management Team (PIMT), which includes Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, Miami-Dade Expressway Authority, the Florida Department of Transportation, Port Miami and others. The team hosts quarterly, internal meetings to discuss their respective agencies and keep members up-to-date with their major transportation initiatives. Members suggested inaugurating this fair to establish regular public outreach opportunities for the team. As a result, agency representatives spoke to hospital employees about the projects taking place in South Florida. They educated event-goers about the services available to them and who to contact for additional information.
The event was well-attended, and a second fair is being planned in the hospital’s south campus this November. For more information about the Miami-Dade TPO, please click here.
