District Six Hosts Tour for Miami-Dade Aviation Department

The Florida Department of Transportation District Six recently hosted a tour of the SunGuide Transportation Management Center’s control room for Miami-Dade County’s Aviation Department. The group requested a tour because they are preparing to build a control center of their own and wanted to learn about the Department’s experience with developing and operating one. The presentation lasted about two hours and went over the request for proposal, contract structure, construction, instrumentation and lessons learned. District representatives also talk about the current retrofit plans being carried out by the team. They detailed how these efforts are expected to enhance operator workflow, allow them to manage more roadways, as well as update equipment that has reached the manufacturer’s end of life period.
