District Six Presents TSM&O Program to ASCE Group
The District Six Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) Office participated in the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) Transportation and Development Institute’s local chapter’s annual meeting in March.
Meeting attendees consisted of young engineers who are interested in learning more about the different branches of transportation engineering. District Six presented the TSM&O program and the critical role it plays in mitigating congestion and promoting safety for all roadway users. They explained the program’s mission as well as the strategies and services that are managed on a daily basis by the District’s SunGuide Transportation Management Center (TMC). They also provided attendees with an update about the latest TSM&O projects and initiatives such as the Bridge Notification System, Warning Gates on 95 Express, Wrong-Way Driving Detection System, Krome Avenue, and Keys COAST.
The presentation was followed by a tour of the SunGuide TMC where attendees were given a behind-the-scenes look at the control room operations. The District Six TSM&O Office regularly participates in industry forums and presentations to promote education and engagement in the industry.
