Mr. Pierre joined the Road Ranger Program three months ago and has already distinguished himself as a valuable team member because of his professionalism on the job and compassion for helping others.

Mr. Pierre was recently recognized by TSM&O staff for his exemplary service in assisting a driver with special needs. He helped a deaf motorist whose vehicle was stranded on the road by communicating through written messages and contacting the motorist’s family to keep them informed. He then relocated the motorist to a safer location until additional help arrived. His actions embody the care and professionalism that define the Road Ranger program.

The event was especially poignant after a New Year’s Day multi-vehicle crash resulted in the tragic loss of life of an FDOT Road Ranger and injured two FHP Troopers. FHP representatives called on the local media to raise awareness and urged the public to move over a lane or slow down when approaching an active scene or service vehicle to avoid another crash or fatality.

The event was attended by local agencies such as fire rescue and towing companies. Road Ranger and Incident Response Vehicle Operators also attended and were part of the backdrop to ensure all partners were represented to the public. Agency representatives made formal statements and the injured FHP troopers provided testimonies about their experience.

Florida’s Move Over Law requires drivers to vacate the lane closest to a stopped law enforcement, emergency, sanitation, utility service vehicles; tow trucks or wreckers; maintenance or construction vehicles with displaying warning lights; and any disabled vehicle on the side of the road. If the driver is unable to move over, the driver is required to slow to a speed that is 20 miles per hour less than the posted speed limit when the posted speed limit is 25 miles per hour or greater; or travel at five miles per hour when the posted speed limit is 20 miles per hour or less.

The social media campaign posted the multimedia materials across several platforms to increase their circulation and online presence. The first post was a general announcement about the anniversary. It shared key details about the building’s opening, before and after pictures, and a 20-year roadmap showcasing the program’s milestones and achievements. The second post showed a compilation video of legacy staff members who were instrumental in building the TMC and supporting the TSM&O Program for South Florida. They expressed their gratitude for the team and shared their experience through the years. The final post featured a four-minute video that took viewers through a visual journey of the SunGuide TMC. It showed from when the TMC was inaugurated in 2004 by our former state governor, Jeb Bush to where it is today. It highlighted the expansion of the TSM&O network in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, the services provided, the major projects, and the impact that has been made in the community.

The campaign was posted on District Six’s social media channels, including Instagram, X, Facebook, and YouTube. The TSM&O Office supports public awareness initiatives that promote transportation safety. It creates educational content to support this mission which can be found on the news section of our SunGuide.info website.
