The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSM&O) Office is supporting the Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW) campaign taking place November 18th through 22nd, 2024.

This national initiative was created to support the incident management and first responder community and remind motorists that responder safety is everyone’s responsibility. It is spearheaded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to provide state offices and their local partners with a unifying message to disseminate through their respective platforms. The campaign is part of FHWA’s ongoing effort to promote safety education and awareness. It is scheduled every November to kick off the holiday season and ramp up messaging before drivers begin their travels. The theme this year is “Responders Ahead! Reduce Your Speed as You Proceed.” The District Six TSM&O Office supports this effort every year. It partners with local agencies to highlight responder safety and disseminate campaign messaging via several media platforms. The District also promotes traffic incident management principles year-round by hosting team trainings and workshops, publishing educational newsletters, and participating in public events.

FHWA created CRSW in 2016. FDOT District Six will continue to support the mission to promote responder safety in southeast Florida. For more information about CRSW, please visit the official page at: https://transportationops.org/TIM/CRSW
